Fall Calving is in full swing, hasn't gone sideways yet, but there is still time. Until then I will just enjoy some calves running around every afternoon...

Well, we got a bit more than a foot of snow last night so this time of the year is very different from yours my friend!

Nice cattle.

Cheers

Logar,
I meant calving season and fall, which ends tonight in Florida anyway, supposed to be in the 20s here which is much more like January weather. The 2 yr old is at a slight disadvantage the picture is a day or two after calving vs the 5 yr old the calf is older in the picture. Thanks for all the nice comments just pictures I took while riding around looking for new babies to tag/weigh.
The 5 yr old is what I would love to have 100 cows just like her.. She is that fleshy on bahia grass hay and water, plus she milks well.

Great 5 yr old. Good 2 yr old also but is lighter boned than I like. But, that's being picky. Anyone should be proud to own both. I love fall calving, but I am very limited on how many I dare keep because I have to keep them separate from the dry cows and space is limiting factor.

The picture certainly makes her look fine boned, but I have looked at her and said what a fine boned wench, camera angle maybe..

I think they need to scratch spring and fall off the 4 seasons list...reduce it too ""summer"" ..and "" not summer"""
That is the truth, I get so tired of reading articles pertaining to "spring" calving, and management there of

This is the picture of the sire in TN, last week. I had the opportunity to catch a look at him on my road trip. Still moves as well as any bull I have ever seen in my life. He moved as perfectly as I have ever seen as a 14 month old in 2013 and still moves that way as a 7 yr old. I told the owner after I saw him, "well that blew up my semen order I had planned". I had to reorder, I might get enough daughters I willing to share some.

Here are some yearling bulls same place in TN.

I wasn't able to make the SydGen sale this year. I did record it off DV auction site. How were the cattle this year? What were the better animals sired by?
Thanks

Blacksnake,
I loved the Rockstar fall heifers again this year. Big group of Enhance's some really good, some had some holes in them, probably as large a sire group as any that was there. The Casino Bomber son was really good. The $$$ colonel son was really good. The Supreme calves were real good if you like them alittle more moderate than Sydgen normally has. The Supreme's were very pretty cattle but were 5 frame cattle as a group. Nothing else as a sire group really wowed me. The old Fate bull was there, he looked really solid for a 7 year old bull.

Got a very small window for turnout on ryegrass happened this week. Turned out all the cows we weren't gonna AI.

Sydgen Enhance bull calf less than 60 days old.

Another Sydgen Enhance bull calf. (2 yr old cow)

One of my favorite calves so far this year.

Thanks for the kind words, not rubbing it in (too much) thought I would share more pictures of the ryegrass. We spent a lot of time getting ryegrass in the ground this fall, got over 80 acres in for either grazing or hay (or both).
Just a couple of pairs with calves out of the walking bull..

Interesting cow here, a soon to be 11 yr old daughter of Sydgen Focus 2088, currently raising her 10th calf, first calf was born in January 2011 and hasn't missed a calving season and backed up to October. raised 9 calves at a 99 weaning ratio. Productive cow over the years.
