I really appreciate what you just said. I went thru Ivan and the same thing happened here, except the damage was not too great to overwhelm FEMA who did a pretty good job getting the "blue roof" program organized and the emergency food stamp program going. I was fortunate enough not to need a "blue roof" and too "rich" to qualify for the food stamp program . I lost quite a bit of food from the freezer and the fridge. I did need about 12 guys to help with the debris removal from the yard (no one ever showed up) I was sure that Jesse and Hillary were trying to get to my place to help, until they checked my voting record . The problems that I have with the media are this:
1 Talk about the failures and get plenty of footage of Congress wanting someone's head on a platter (preferrably Bush's), but no mention of the volunteers that go out and do the hard work that it takes to put a community back together.
2 I know New Orleans got it the worst but what about Biloxi/Gulfport and farther north. It is like they dont exist anymore. We had the same problem up this way after Ivan. I am 25 miles off the coast and the people in town asked if had damage. You think!!!! If it is not sensational then the media ignores it.

PS I hope this is not too political. It was meant to be more about how the media covers the sensational damage and ignores all the good things that people do to help these communities.
