Hypotrychosis Disease

I have a sickly wooley calf I suspect has hypotrychosis. Is there a blood test or something to help prove or disprove my assumption? My vet doesn't know of any available tests. Yes it is a hereford.

I've always used a skin biopsy to confirm my suspicion...hereford makes it really suspicious....
