Hydrolic oil leak.

I have a hydrolic leak where the female fitting screws into the hydrolic control box. My question is when I remove the fitting, what sealant should I apply to the threads. Is there a special sealant designed for hydrolic lines or can I use plumbers nylon thread tape ? Any advise from experienced folks will be appreciated,

I'd also check to see if there is an O-ring and if there is that it isn't shot.
