couldn't find anything from ABS yet--I understand the AAA will be posting all that have been tested NHC so far- in the next day or two...

Man, it sure looks like GAR is hurtin with all these tests they keep doing. Any word on the Fawn Calf testing yet?

didn't look like they hurt too much in their sale last week, then again they didn't mention hydro either.

Some how I have dodged the bullet again, I guess it's just beginners luck! All I can say is thank you Rishel for having a good breeding program! :D

Yep- looks like 1680 is the furthest back they can trace it-- his dam and sire are HDF....
Just spent awhile doing another fast check back thru pedigees to double ascertain it--but I don't have a bit of 1680 in anything I own...I'm so glad I never liked the Precision/Future Direction bloodlines-- and never chased the bull of the month fad.... :D

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I have a couple cows that trace back... and bred them to carriers... only one Angus cow left to calve.

I have some semen I planned to use from B/R Future Direction 4268, he is free, he was also AMF, now if he can pass the Fawn Calf thing we will be in good shape. :lol2:

I do not deal with Select Sires was that their total lineup that is full of carriers?

Jeff

They have a whole lot more than that, but that certainly has to put a damper on sales!

I think there is almost 1000 bulls on the AAA site already, look at that link above.

Not sure if I'll totally dodge the Fawn Calf bullet- as I do have a couple cows that trace back to Bando 598- which according to rumorville is being mentioned as one that has shown up in the Australian research- which has gone on a lot longer than here has....

I'm in the same boat, but so far they have been producing good calves, so I'm not too worried about it. I'll do the test when it comes available though. Even had a line breeding that came out well.

????? You did notice that most of the bulls were free of the defect?

Do you think Fawn Calf will be a Class I defect? I'm thinking that since it's not a lethal defect, it may only be a Class II?

I think almost 10% had it. If it has 1680 in the pedigree it looks like a must for testing. I'm looking at this with a little different perspective than most, if you have 1680 genetics and it came through all that testing without any problems, it just became more valuable!

I have no idea what they will do, I guess they need to determine the mode of inheritance first. I don't see it as being as big of a threat though.

Yep- and it sounds like it may take longer on this- because of the fact so many are never reported- with folks just thinking they are a weak puny calf that gets better.....

I don't know, by the time all this gets out into the hinterlands I think a lot of people are going to look at Precision 1680 in the pedigree like some Quarterhorse people look at Impressive and they just won't buy it.
