Yes but it doesn't have to be over the top expensive. I upgraded to a Panasonic Lumix a couple of years ago and it improved my photography greatly of my bulls. It has good software that will adjust for bad background that doesn't make them stand out or poor light, it has good reaction time ie it is ready for another shot quickly, I love it, does good videos too.
I will often use a black and white umbrella with a parson standing in front and opening it when required to get their attention, just don't let the others in the pen see it as the quickly get used to it.
Avoid bright sunlight in the middle of the day with sun overhead. I like lightly overcast days best.
Getting the back leg right is a problem to me they always seem to want to keep it forward, I think that they think I am going to kick them in the nuts or something, I guess it is a guy thing, we seem to be a bit protective of our tackle.
