how to start a calf on a bottle

We've got a new calf that's not getting enough milk from the cow. We've tried unsuccessfully to get him to drink from a bottle. We stand him up, squirt milk into his mouth, and enclose his mouth over the nipple, but he just won't start sucking and get the hang of it. Any suggestions?

i have never had any luck bottle feeding a calf that has bonded with his mother for more than a few days. maybe you could get him to eat some calf starter mixed with manna.to make up for what he is not getting from the cow
