How much time do you have to devote to your cattle? How are your marketing skills? If you run cow/calf pairs, you need to devote more time than if you're running summer stockers; but you can possibly run more stockers on the same grass than pairs. If you want to direct market beef, that's an entirely different set of skills. Then there's the club calf business...There's not a simple answer to this.
