Rachel, you need to attend a class with hands on training to learn to AI. You can damage a cow's reproductive tract if you don't know what you're doing. The major semen companies, ABS, Accelerated, etc., run AI schools. You might look at their web sites and see if you can track down a local rep and see if they have one going on in your area. Or check with your local Extension office and see if they're aware of any classes in your area. Some Ag universities also offer classes. Be sure you'll actually get to AI cows during the class, not just classroom work. A major expense after the school is the nitrogen tank to store semen, $3-800. And, of course, it has to be refilled with nitrogen on a regular basis. Good luck...
