how much semen is in a unit of semen (in terms of straws)?
if i was wanting to put a couple of straws in a heifer how many units will i need to get?

A unit is one straw. If I remember correctly there is 1/2 cc per straw. Each service requires 1 straw. The only time you would use multiple straws at one breeding would be if you have super-ovulated the cow, or the quality of the semen is very, very poor. If properly handled since collection and from a CSS certified stud, only one is required.

much lower quantity. the difference is that in a.i. you're putting the semen on the other side of the cervix so the little fellas don't have to swim as far.
