Yea, CB. I remember. I was in armed forces then and making a service call on a ship moored in Biloxi, Ms. when the word came down. When I finished with the radar I drove back to the base in New Orleans. When I got there and went to my section I found a party going on. I could not believe my eyes. I asked them if they had heard that Kennedy had been shot and they said "heII yes, come join the party".

I think a lot of folks hated Kennedy, certainly a lot of folks in South Louisiana. I will never forget that day.
That's some sick sht. Why didn't they just move to Cuba?

I think far more people liked him than disliked him, but then again I am not old enough. He must of made someone mad he ended up shot.

I think you're right J. I certainly liked him.

Back in those days there was a lot of prejudice for a lot of different things. First, he was catholic and some folks didn't like that. Then he tried to help the black Americans and a lot of folks didn't like that. He came from a very wealthy family and some folks were jealous about that. They thought the riches came from illegal activities during prohibition and other sources. I don't know about that - not old enough. He also put the U.S. on the brink of nuclear war and THAT scared a lot of people sh__less.

But he never apologized to the world for America. He didn't back down when calling the hand of the Russian's installation of nucs in Cuba. I don't think he deserves all the credit for the bay of pigs invasion that went very wrong. And he put us ahead in the space race.

I don't think we will ever know the truth about his death - and that's too bad. I'm a card carrying republican but I would vote for him again.

The Principal announced it on the intercom while my class was in the lunch line. I was in 1st grade in Dublin, Ga. We were dismissed early and my Mom picked me and my 3rd grade brother up. Got home and it was on TV. I remember thinking "As the World Turns" should be on now.

I was in the 7th grade in Dublin, TX. I was in the band hall which was across the street from the main school buildings. There was no intercom over there, so someone walked over to announce it.

You guys had lunch late in Georgia.

George

I was in the fourth grade. Don't remember how it was announced to us, but they let us out of school. When I got home my Mom was crying and when Dad got home from work he was very upset. They were big Kennedy people. Dad is gone now. Mom is 87 and still has Kennedy's picture hanging in her living room.

I remember playing at a friend's house when Oswald was shot. His dad came outside and told us what happened. He was obviously very upset and I remember him shaking like a leaf. Didn't mean much to us except a couple of days off from school. I didn't realize what a significant event it was until I grew older.

I was in fifth grade at a catholic school. Ushered into church to pray. My sister who was in the ninth grade and her friend and mother were standing on the triple overpass where the motorcade was approaching. They heard the noise (gunshots) but had no idea that was what it was. They were immediately told to leave the area and were escorted behind the grassy knole by dallas pd. I watched Ruby shoot Oswald on tv and when I told my dad he laughed and said I had it wrong that oswald shot kennedy. I said dad come see and he came with into the den and saw the replay.
