How many Post Hole Augers for a Big Project?

Help Support CattleToday:

Which brings us right back to what works one place won;t work another. Wether it's soil, forage base, hay, cow type/breed, by-product availablity, weather, what have you. There is no one size fits all solution.

Around here it is 16" augers. Better to have too much room around the post than not enough.

Danhauser brand 3pt diggers with a say a 16", 14" and 9" auger for different posts. Get the extension to get them good and deep, and as said above keep those replacable ends new and sharp. Makes a world of difference.

Don't throw those hand held diggers away either, you will still need them to clean out the hole some times.

Alot of people weld say a 6" piece of 2 7/8s pipe to the kneck of the digger that away if the ground is real hard you can stick a piece of 2 3/8s, that is a couple feet long, through it out the back so you can get some leverage to help it out. Kind of like a cheater-pipe. Just one person on it can make alot of difference.
