Sorry for another noobish question but I've gotten so many conflicting answers both from the web and by asking around.

My question is;

How long will a Jersey steer live on average if allowed to live out it's full life (aka not slaughtered)
on pasture and given medical care when needed?

I've heard as low as 5 years and I've heard as high as 30. I'm just trying to figure what's true and what isn't.

-Thank you!

Jerseys are kinda like Holsteins sometimes they just forget to BREATHE :lol: :lol:

when I was a kid the neighbor had an old pet jersey steer that he turned out with his calves every yr and I know that thing was at least 15 yrs old when the owner passed away and was still healthy and going strong

i'll go with 15 also; the only place i'd expect to see a thirty year specimen is in the circus...

The oldest cow on record lived to the age of 49. Produced 39 calves. Born 1944 and died in 1993.
