I gotta confess I took a regular bathroom scale and mounted it to a 2 foot X 2and a half foot plywood base using some short drywall screws so it doesn't sink into the mud. gather up the calf in my arms, stand sideways so I can see the dial and subtract my weight in my head. It is almost as accurate as a sling and scale and it is so much easier that you aren't tempted to estimate a calf out in the weeds. There is also a tape available that uses hoof circumference but I don't know how good it is.We use a sling made of canvas, and
