I bought a copy of Chip Hine's book. He combined a lot of the PCC principles, humorist quotes, odd stories, and a couple catchy points:

The PPC principles was focused on selecting low input cattle and the higher profitability of small cows. There was some data I had not seen, and an explanation on why big lean cattle are desired by the feedlots.
The best catchy point was focused on "trading dollars" - - how we often invest in anything that will cash flow (thus increasing our business risk, but perhaps not our profit) and how we spend on the "implied profitability" of the latest and greatest inputs.
Other catchy points were on low cost heifer rearing and "Optibred" cow culling. I calculate that there is a good gross margin in replacement heifers right now. Based on Chip' data I should sell the big growthy ones and keep the "poor" milking 1000 pounders.

An easy read and well worth the time.
