This calf is out of your Charolais bull unless there's a shadow on the calf making it look blue in the back...
I would say the red flecking on the ear is the tale tail sign it's double white shorthorn. This calf is out of your Charolais bull unless there's a shadow on the calf making it look blue in the back...
If it's a shadow then it's probably the Shorthorn bull.
Yup, that blue color was a shadow. I didn't see the color on the ear. Good eye...I would say the red flecking on the ear is the tale tail sign it's double white shorthorn.
If those black cows are hetero for black, they would have a 50% chance at red calves. Those smokies you have should have 1 copy of the dilute gene and 1 copy of the black, so 50% chance they could have a black calf. I don't now that I have ever seen a Gelbvieh X Brahma. Sounds interesting, though. Do you have any pics of one?Nice video thank you. Makes more sense for what I'm seeing with our cows now. So far what we have
Red Gelbvieh on black brangus = 100% black calves
Red Gelbvieh on smokey Char/brangus cross = 100% red calves
Red Gelbvieh on grey brahma = red calves
Of course Red Gelbvieh on Red Gelbvieh is red.
Now waiting to see if the heifers retained out of the black cows will produce any red calves.
Southern BalancerI don't now that I have ever seen a Gelbvieh X Brahma.
