A mutually acceptable separation according to all sources. He wanted to play for a championship level team.
Dallas may be an option but more likely to be Steelers if they can fit him under the cap and his brother TJ already plays there..
A local news said Tom Brady has already called him. "Come to Tampa".

Maybe, but

JJ made a point in his announcement to state:

"I came here 10 years ago as a kid from Wisconsin who'd never really been to Texas before, and now I can't imagine my life without Texas in it," Watt said.

Dallas has yet to sign their franchise QB over $$ issues, but they can more easily fit Watts in than Pittsburg can and Big Ben is not the QB he once was. Not sure the Steelers can get Watts a ring in the next couple of years as JJ isn't getting any younger either.

The following teams are already at or over 2021 cap space and will have to do something in the off season just to get under it.
Bears
Giants
Lions
Raiders
Vikings
Steelers
Chiefs
Falcons
Packers
Rams
Eagles
Saints

LA Rams use a 3-4 defense
nose tackle 25 yr old SJB Sebastian Joseph-Day is solid anchoring the middle.

Pair JJ Watt with super star Aaron Donald and the Rams would be a holy terror.
IF the Rams can overcome salary cap to sign JJ then Tampa Bay will not repeat.

Packers are a contender and would have been his childhood favorite. He'd have to be willing to play for less than he's worth, though. I'm hopeful.

SOB it has gotten pretty bad when you can bet on which team a player is going too. A guy I worked with when they got local off track betting, bankrupted himself and he had two jobs. The guy loved betting.

And the winner is Arizona at 45-1 odds a major dark horse
jj signed 2 yr contract with the Cardinals yesterday
reportedly Buffalo was 2nd they were 11-1 to land him

I kind of thought he'd end up in Dallas or a Florida team because he'd save
a million or 2 in taxes that way.

According to the net former coaches said he is a selfish person. I am sure that was checked out. If the selfish part is true he want add much to team building. SOB that was some long odds as it kind of makes you wonder.
