Well, the Houston Show is coming up, and I hope that I get to attend. What can I expect? Im mostly looking forward to looking at the breeders exzibits/boothes. And seeing what all big breeders are there. And I would like to attend some sales.

Make sure you check out the web site that txag posted... Houston runs over 3 weeks. If you're looking for a particular breed you'll have to narrow down your trip. Most of the breeds stay for four days, then they leave to make room for more. The junior steer and heifers show at the end of the show (March) with open cattle before.

You'll have a blast. There's lots to see, and other than the food being pricey, it's a fun day or two.

Question copeman. Why go to Houston when you can go to Louisville just as easy?

yeah I checked out there website, Ive narrowed it down to try and see the braford show and other breeds on the first weekend. Me and my buddy are going to try to make the trip. Well probably only attend one day. The rest of the time were in Texas we would just like to drive out into the country and see some cattle ranches, and maybe try and see if we cant visit a few. I suppose that there are lots of cattle ranches around Houston or just outside of there aren't there?

Your joking I hope. Even I've been to Houston. Long time ago I let somebody talk me intio going for a sale. Some friend. The only thing "around Houston or just outside" of Houston way back then was just a abunch more Houston. Gotta be worse today. Time you get to Houston til you get to the show will take you half a day.And we didnt even get lost. Thats running 80 miles an hour. On the shoulder to keep from gettin run over. I think the city police are even scared to get out on the road during there rushing hours. One thing you'll have to say about Texans....maybe its true that the maker only gave some of em common sense. But the rest of em all got a set of big uns to make up for it.

Can I assume that uns means egos?Or how about payments? My wifes aunt is from Texas. While visiting a different state the clerk at a store told Auntie that she could tell she was from Texas. When asked how she could tell ( in aunties best southern drawl) the clerk replied all the Texas women she ever knew wore all their jewelry at once.

And to those of you who are still having a hard time understanding all this Texan stuff, bless your hearts, I hear they are fixin' to have classes on Texan as a second language! (Elderwise?)

And for those that are not from the Texas but have lived here for a long time, ya'll need a sign to hang on ya'lls front porch that reads, "I ain't from Texas but I got here as fast as I could." Bless your hearts, ya'll have a blessed day.

I've never set foot in Texas. Spose that makes me an even bigger Yank, right Camp?

That probably gets me kicked out as a charter member of the "posee" too. But if that is the case, Brokenmouth, I want a refund for the unused portion on my annual dues!!!

You are still a charter member. Remember ya'll are aggresive people started the big war.

I am confident you will get a preview of what heaven is like one day.

I drive in Houston rush hour 2 times a day, 5 days a week. Let me tell you, it is a bunch of BE NICE!!! It is getting bigger by the hour. I heard that in the next 10 years B/CS will just be another surburb of Houston. Now they have this "Safe Clear" be nice program going on. If you break down on the road, even for a flat tire, you have 6 minutes before you get towed, and you had better have a way to pay the $75 or your vehicle will sit the the tow yard till you can come up with it. It's a buch of be nice!. I know good and well it would take me longer then 6 minutes to change my tire, I've never even changed a tire on a dually before, I would probably be cussin' like a sailor. If a wrecker tried to tow my truck because of a flat tire they would probably have to tow me to jail.

Houston is not that bad considering that it is the 4th largest city. At least we can drive anywhere during the winter and not have to worry about being snowed-in. It doesn't matter what city you're in. If you drive during the morning or afternoon rush, you're gonna hit traffic.

And yes, if you're not from Texas then you are a Yankee!

Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is bigger and better than anywhere else. Where else can you go that has the best livestock show, rodeo, exhibits, arts and crafts, food, drinks(diet coke of course) and fun in the world, and then top it off with Willie, George, Clint, etc... Now, dont get your feathers ruffled. Anybody can buy a ticket. So take a tripon down here if you can and we'll show you a good time!

Actually, they will tow your vehicle off the freeway for free. Then you can take all time you need to change your flat.

Nothing like Denver. It is the Grandaddy of them all. 99yrs and counting.

Ollie, I said the best, not the oldest. Besides, the altitude there will make you pass out when you walk from your truck to the gate.(lol)

Colorado is beuatiful though, I'll give you that.

No, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night..................not sure if you non Texans have seen the commercial.

No, I have not been.

No, but big corps. have different regional commercials. I'm sure that Texas, Florida and other states in our area see the same ones, but not sure about the rest of the U.S.
My brother lives in Chicago and sometimes when he comes here, he comments about never seeing a certain comercial that we see every day.

It is a funny commercial. The best is that new one from Quizno's with the little tike and the grown up voice. He's talking about the new roast beef sub or something to that effect and then he says "You know what I got? Strained peas. I love the gal but that's just wrong!"
