Show me your latch ideas for your corral gates , the simpler the better , wooden or steel post. Thanks ahead of time.

I would love to see some too. Having to make some for two or three gates. Never did it before.

I'd like to come up with a latch that works like a cut gate latch in a trailer. Locks when it slams shut.

Not homemade, but we install about 20 of these a week. The one in the link is installed wrong.

They're.......ok. I use them on my pen on gates that need to swing both ways. I'd like them a lot more if there was an easy option to open them without sticking my big ol clumsy fingers between the post and the latch to pull up the release, especially when I'm swinging a gate from full open in one direction to fully open in the other. ya can't do it quickly.

Yes, the one in the picture should be positioned up where the horizontal tube is to keep the whole assy from twisting, but there is a hole in both sides of the latch that you can drill thru the vertical tube of the gate and insert a bolt with nut on the back side, or even drive in a self tapping screw to keep the latch from twisting on the horizontal tube.

I usually cut and weld a 1" solid round bar to the engagement pin to lengthen it out some and ensure it gets full engagement.
