I do not know of a web site per say, but have broke many calves to lead.

Start ASAP, the smaller they are the easier it is. I use a hand tied rope halter, which I modify, so that the loop close to you hand is large enough to allow the rope to go slack when the calf lets up, and prevents damage to the nose bridge of the calf. Good halter breaking comes from consistancy in working with the animal, and using possitive reinforcment to encourage desired behavior. Very much like children.

If anyone has a diagram picture out of a book on how to tie a rope cow/ calf holter,I would appreciate it if you would scan it and e-mail it to me at [email protected]

Thanks for all the info.

The attached link has directions for making a larger rope halter, just scale it down for a calf. Click on "Making Halters" http://www.madbbs.com/users/timhull/equipment.htm

What I never understood about halter training the calf is what do I do with her 1200# mother who is breathing down my neck? The calf wouldn't be a problem.
