Holstein Steers

Help Support CattleToday:

Hi all,
Just to stick in my 10 pennies-worth . . .
Over here in the UK we find they do well on the 'Barley Beef' system and can be ready for sending off at 14 months onwards.
They are only found usually on the large arable farms who have the grain to spare and not the dedicated beef operations who prefer the continental breeds like the double-muscled Belgian Blues or Charollais who grow like stink !
Some of the organic status farms are starting to go for the Angus and more traditional breeds as these attract a better premium from a public clamouring for 'welfare friendly' produced meat.

I'll get my coat . . .
Jon :tiphat:
