I've been reading about Holm Oaks and how the acorns are used as fodder in spain.
I was thinking about planting a few, but i haven't been able to find anywhere on the internet whether the acorns have to be crushed before the cattle can eat them.
If they do have to be crushed i couldn't be bothered, but if they don't, i think they'll make a great supplement.
Does anyone have any experience of these trees?
thanks in advance

Don't know about Holm oaks, but over here cows that eat too many acorns get sick-you might check that out..Too many of our type acorn can/will cause kidney disease. Also other internal problems..

Mark I googled it and seems it's more of a holly tree than an oak, at least in the sense of how we view "Oaks" in this neck of the woods. The nuts are apparently nutritious and even good for human consumption.
