What is your favorite, And least favorite thing about the holidays?
I'm really not that good at doing polls, seems like I allways forget to enter a catagory,, So I figured I'd just start a topic.

My favorite things are the food!! Bowl games!! Getting to see random acts of kindness,( like when some one walks past the salvation army person,at wal-mart , and then stops , turns around and throws some money in the pot)getting to visit with some relatives.

Least favorite: Christmas music, watching Some show called it's a wonderful life?? Ya'll know the one I'm talking about with Jimmy what's his name. (I'm probably going to draw some fire over this one ;-) )getting to visit with some relatives.

My favorite thing is it only comes once a year.
My least favorite is that it comes at all
I also would like to add BAH, HUMBUG

dun

My favorite things about Christmas are getting together with family. I have three brothers who all have kids (we should be up to about 10 or 12 young ones depending on who shows up). When we get around the dinner table and we all have the same offbeat ironic and sarcastic sense of humor. We laugh until it hurts. Of course Dad just had a quadruple bypass yesterday so we may have to tone down a bit so it doesn't hurt him too much, but its absolutely hilarious. My mother calls it a 'Goon Show' whatever that is. We tease each other's wives and kids, not mean like or anything just in good fun.
I like setting out the presents from Santa the night before and the look of the gifts as they are bathed in the lights of the Christmas tree and the excitement at 5-6 am when the kids wake up and realize its Christmas morning and then acting surprised at what's under the tree.
I also like watching the little kids open the presents. They get the biggest kick out of the littlest things when they are at that age. That's before they get too materialistic.

I'm not a big fan of Christmas music and there are way too many Christmas movies on at this time of year. I also could do without the Christmas decorations on the first of November.

I agree that we need to always rememer the real reason for Christmas, but I like everythign about it including the Christmas songs. I only wish we could get a little snow for a white Christmas.

I don't particularly like Christmas-it's gotten way too commercialized and blown out of proportion. In my opinion I see so many people getting stressed out about what to buy for someone who doesn't really like the gift and doesn't really want it. Christmas time is the time of year when more suicides are committed-I believe that this is due to the pressures and expenses and also to so many people not having anyone to share all of this merriment? with.
I do however love Thanksgiving-I like the food and fellowship and not having to worry about whether I got so and so a better gift than they got me. Sorry, don't mean to be so sarcastic. That's just how I see it. To me Thanksgiving is just a better holiday-you can visit with friends and family and not be so stressed out.
Oh, and by the way hope everyone has a good Christmas!

I agree with that. I like watching the young kids open their presents, though. They are relatively easy to please. Exchanging gifts as adults is not so good. Why my wife never even thanked me for the new mop I bought her last Christmas.   Some people.

Sorry, but I'm the "bah, humbug" type myself. We don't exchange gifts with anyone anymore.. I cook for hubby and mom, and that's it.

I'm generally busy at work this time of year primarily because folks are off work so they can take time to look for real estate, but it's frustrating getting anything done because I swear everyone in Texas (bankers, surveyors, title company people, lenders, etc.etc) don't do much of anything after about the 15th.

Happy Holidays everyone!

thats got as much to do with deer hunting as christmas

Best things include Chrismas trees and colored lights, giving a present to someone that means a lot to me, addressing Christmas card to friends I don't see often and just thinking about them, being able to make Christmas better for some kids that may get nothing otherwise.
I like getting a card or gift from someone when I know they are giving it because they care about me.
Best of all, I just like the Spirit of Christmas.

Don't like missing those in my heart that are no longer here.

I don't like it when the tree dries out and my wife finally insists that I have to take it out.

P.S. I like seeing that show 'It's A Wonderful Life'!!!
