Hip Height

I am in the process of determining the frame size for a couple of steers. How do you go about measuring hip height? It sounds like it should be easy but I am having difficulty determining the proper place to measure the hip. I have tried to duplicate the measurement and can get up to +/- 2" which is not very good. Some basic steps would be appreciated.

Thanks…

We've always measured at the top of the hip bone, but you have to besure that the horisontal is level and square with the vertical measuring device. It's not uncommon for multiple people to measure the same animal and come up with slightly different frame scores.
