I weaned my calves right at 30days ago today. Im feeding them 7-8lbs/hd/day of a 3way mix of 12% commodity ration. I grabbed a 30% protein (3%fat)tub at the local feed store and put it out figuring alittle extra protein couldnt hurt. Am I right or is it a case of over doing it? Their almost out, going to try these flaxseed tubs I fed my bulls in years past that are 20%protein 15%fat or something like that, i know their high fat

Tubs are one of the most expensive feeds and the extra cost, as said, is only the price of convenience. There is research that says that urea sourced protein content has a limit of value. Seems (memory) that 7% is the upper limit utilized by a bovine. The rest goes out the back. So if the high pro tub is that due to anything over 7% urea, figure out the wasted dollars.
