We only send our old cows and bulls to L&H because we have found that they are hit the hardest at the auction and we can get a little more for them there.

We also take our old bulls and cull cows to the packer. There is some risk since it's on the honor system and you never see the animal on the scales but we've always been done right over the years. They will take anything that's standing and does not have a fever.

Gosh I've been there probly 100 times and I didn't know what L&H stood for.

There's also a packer in Waco.. H & B. We've taken slaughter cows there as well, primarily to save them the aggravation of going through the auction barn and hauled all over the place. They pay on hanging weight, not live weight. And they will ocassionally get a free one.. we sent one years ago that they said had pnuemonia, even though that wasn't the reason we shipped her, and she didn't show any symptoms.
