No simm influence either.
Both the cow and calf where sired by traditional horned Hereford bulls (red not black)
Cows dam was similar in color to cow.(yellow)
That cow was the result of a solid Red Bull and a similar colored cow(yellow)
After reading and rereading, you say the cow and calf were both sired by Horned Herefords, then you say the cow is the result of a solid Red Bull and similar colored "yellow" cow. Am I loosing something in translation because a "traditional" Hereford is not solid red? Maybe you are describing the body and not the face or other typical white areas of Herefords.
I agree with @Travlr there is a black animal back in that pedigree somewhere.

Black baldy calf (Current generation )parents are yellow cow in picture and a Hereford bull.
Yellow cow in pic ( previous generation/Black baldy calf's mother) parents are a Hereford bull and a similar looking yellow cow.(2generations back)
Yellow cow (grandmother of black baldy calf/ mother of cow in the pic) parents are a similar looking yellow cow and a solid Red Bull.
So
1st generation -black baldy calf
Prior generation-Hereford bull and yellow cow(cow in pic.
2nd generation back yellow cow and Hereford bull
3rd generation back yellow cow and solid Red Bull.

OKay... so if all of us offer similar conclusions or at least speculation and that's not good enough for you...

And the pic of the cow looks grey, not yellow...

How would you like us to answer so you could be satisfied?

That still leaves the likelihood of the cow having one or more black animals somewhere in her lineage.

If every bull on the maternal side was red and every dam was "yellow" for several generations and the sire of the calf is a red hereford, then all those "yellow" dams were diluted hetero black. If normal genetic rules apply. May be more probable that the sire of this calf is a black bull - bull could have come by Chinese weather balloon or alien UFO - or a neighbor. Or some sort of miracle.

OP says there was a Hereford bull used on this yellow cow. That would make the black color causing the question.

Obviously, he does not like the answers he has gotten, but.....the female side is carrying the black gene for 3 generations. They have all also carried the diluter gene. Of course, that is IF there was no black visitor.
Not sure what answer you are looking for, but the obvious one....you don't like.

Shipped this cow and calf yesterday.
Cow brought $1.07
Calf brought $2.84 lb
Also shipped this cows 16 year old mother. Brought .90 lb
Not too bad for a 13 and 16 year old cow. Especially considering they where "worthless highland crosses " that no one will pay a damned penny for🙄
