Hereford Bull x Charolais cows

Help Support CattleToday:

Nothing wrong with the char Hereford cross. We ran lots of char bulls on Hereford cows when I was growing up and it was probably a better cross than char on baldy cow. The Hereford ads some ruggedness, fleshing ability and just overall do ability to the char requiring less feed to finish.

My very last calving season I had a Char bull out with Herefords. Got some darn nice big pretty calves out of him.

Not sure if I would have kept any of the heifers for replacement though. My base herd was always Hereford/Angus. Takes a lot of groceries to get those bigger cows with less hair through the winter.
