Hello! I just found this community and I am very excited to be here! I have an Australian Stumpy Tailed Cattle dog who is about 5yrs old and he is from a working line of heelers. I got him from a farm that was downsizing and he was 9mo at the time I got him and since has learned about 20-25 commands for basic obedience and some trick dog training as well as agility and flyball. He lives a full life, however, knowing he is a working dog, I would still like to find an outlet for him to express his inner farm dog life. I have tried researching information on where to find a facility in a reasonable driving distance and no such luck, so, I turn to this community hoping for an answer. Does anyone know a place I can take a working stock dog to live his best life by taking a few classes somewhere? I was hoping I could bring him to a private farm and pay them by the hour, so, that I may work with him and possibly a couple of goats. I personally grew up on a farm out on Natchez Trace and am knowledgeable about goats, chickens, horses, guineas, turkeys, and just about everything in between. I have also done a lot of reading on herding dogs and their jobs in relation to this and I should also note that I am a certified dog trainer.....well my ACD was the reason for the certification as I had never had a dog before, but man, I have truly felt inspired by this pup to do right by him. I would love any insight or help, so, he can have his best day ever! Everybody, meet Rooster!

I have had working Border Collies and Australian Shepherds for over 50 years. They have added a lot of enjoyment to the years. It seems lately they spend more time chasing tennis balls for the grandkids than actually working stock. They do not seem to mind as long as they get attention and have a job to do.
