I am selling a few 12 mo. open heifers approx. 700 lbs. and I would like to get an idea about how much they are going for at a couple of sale barns. However, would someone help clarify when you see in the following example - what factors in the classification Medium and Large 1, 2, 3?

Heifers: Medium and Large 1: 300-400 lbs 131.00-140.00, few 152.00-155.00;
400-500 lbs 121.00-131.00, few 133.00-140.00; 500-600 lbs 109.00-119.00, few
120.00-125.00, 540-595 lbs fleshy 107.00-110.00, 500-520 lb replacements
140.00-142.00; 600-700 lbs 107.00-113.00; 700-800 lbs 102.00-107.00.
Medium and Large 2: 200-300 lbs 145.00-155.00, 240 lbs thin 165.00; 300-400
lbs 129.00-139.00, individual 141.00, 300-345 lbs thin 140.00-145.00; 400-500
lbs 119.00-129.00, few 131.00-137.00; 500-600 lbs 107.00-117.00, few to 119.00;
600-700 lbs 105.00-112.00.
Medium and Large 3: 200-300 lbs 125.00-135.00, few 139.00-140.00; 400-500 lbs
110.00-121.00; 500-600 lbs 107.00-117.00.

Then later in the sale report for cows you see open replacements 78.00-89.00 CWT (below).

Replacement Cows: Medium and Large 1-2: few young 1020-1175 lb cows 2-8
months bred 76.00-90.00 CWT; few middle aged 1155-1485 lb cows 4-6 months bred
69.00-84.00 CWT; few aged 1015-1080 lb cows 6-8 months bred 55.00-65.00 CWT;
young 725-975 lb open replacements 78.00-89.00 CWT.

I would like to get an idea of where they would be classified before I make my decision to sell. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

Replacements are usually refered to as that when the come in the ring, they may be bought as breeders or as feeders. But those that come in as feeders may be bought either way also.
The 1,2, and 3 refer to muscle. The large and medium refers to frame. If you do a google search on USDA muscle score you may be able to call up a site that has pictures that show what the differences are.
