Help( udder)

I have a 3 year old that had a calf 2 weeks ago.Found her tonight with blood on her udder.She wouldn't let me to close,but it looks like she tore it somehow.It's in the back past the last 2 teats.I will get her in tomorrow and check it out.Give her antibiotics and clean it out.I have some Cut-Heal I can put on it.But is their anything that can really be done with a udder?? Can a Vet sew it?? The 4 teats look good and she seems fine,calf is eating on all 4.This just had to happen some time today.I found it this evening.Please let me know. Thanks in advance!!

Depends on how severe the cut is. If it is very deep I would have a vet chekc it out. If it doesn't bleed much when the calf nurses I would leave it alone. But we tend to believe in benign neglect of a lot of minor problems and let the cow and nature resolve the problem.

If it's leaking milk, is really gaping, or has really jagged edges, I'd get the vet. A good vet can repair a severe udder injury much better than what nature will, and with much less scarring going into the milk producing tissue.

On the other hand, a superficial wound will heal just fine on it's own in a few days with basic case.
