Abdominal distension--bloat, free-gas Lack of rumen motility--won't eat Acute laminitis--tender feet, walking on "eggshells" Recumbency--down Death
Cures: if eating, feed only hay with water, no grain Baking soda, other rumen buffers Rumen transplant (rumen juice from freshly killed steer) pumped into neutralized sick animal If the rumen sloughs the bottom 1/3 or so, game over. Get the vet out!!!
