Help - Cows losing hair ?

Rookie owner needs advice.
Couple of my cows are losing hair in splotches, looks like mange on a dog ?

More than likley its lice we get it around this time of year. I apply pour-on cylence once and than reapply in 3 weeks, this takes care of it. If it is worming time we use cydentin also works.

Depending on exactly what it looks like and where you are geographically, it could be spring molt. Never a bad idea to de-lice however.

late winter - early spring is common for lice - they will likely go away with the sunshine but you can also use pour-ons or spray for them or use wood ash or diatomaceous earth if you want to go less toxic.

No need to worry. Take everyone else's advice and don't worry.

Couple years ago I had it real bad this time of year. Had one particular cow have almost no hair on her neck and rump in a matter of about 10 days. Looked kind of funny, but pour-on took care of it pretty quick.

A real good spring rain, then sunshine should take care of it.

Lice can cost you more money than internal parasites.
