Help, bottle fed calf, gum bleeding.

We have a 3 month old calf that we have been bottle feeding since birth. For a week now we have notice his front bottom gums being very red and alittle bloody. He still takes milk very good, eats grain, hay and grass without any noticable problems. His stool looks fine, but today we notice him not as active. We have for the last day, cleaning his mouth out with hydro peroxide, seems to help a little.

Any help would be very much be appreciate, we have no local livestock vet.

My guess is that he is running some temp causing him to grind his teeth, thus the bloody gums.

Check his temp, if above 102 treat him with something like Draxxin. For the gums listerine works good too.

On a side note we wean calves by 7 weeks of age, 3 months is too long to be feeding milk. Use a good quality calf starter at least 18% protein.

Could be a blood clotting problem. Is there any rat bait around that he could of got onto?

Thanks for the replies, I was able to talk to a vet today and he told it was his baby teeth becoming loose and irratating his gums causing some bleeding. No fever and no rat bat around anywhere.
