My steer has the runs real bad and a very snotty nose. He also has crud around his eyes. What can I do 2 help him? THANKS

Every time that we have seen the runs with our 4-H steers it was because we were pushing them too hard (digestive system gets out of whack). Is he bloated on the left side? If we see any signs of bloat or loose stool we will cut back on the grain and provide grass hay with little alfalfa and bring him back gradually to full feed. Don't know about the snotty nose but usually that a sign of sickness in al animals. As far as the eyes if the flies get very bad they can cause irritation. Might want to look at your water supply also to make sure it is fresh because that could become a contributing factor. I would be contacting our veterinarian and our 4-H beef superintendent for additional help. They would be aware of any sicknesses in your area that could be going around.
