I wasn't sure where this went but here goes.

We are having a weird problem, 2 out of 5 heifrs that we calved out this year are being shipped to the sale today cuz they just flat won't give any milk. One of them never did the other milked OK for a couple of weeks then basically just went dry. Bag is gone calf is starving. None of the older cows are doing this and their full sisters did not do it as heifers.

Anyone have a similar experience

and by the way to make this week a little stranger we lost a calf to C&D toxin.

We have calves dying from overeaters disiase and others starving to death.

the one had swelling from calving and probably never had much milk either. it can fool you the first couple of weeks. but it doesn't take long to realize the calf is hungry. it is strange full sisters milking so different.

Not strange at all. Genes line up one way one time and differently another time.
