What's the average time that you've seen for first time calvers to come back into heat? I've read 30 days before but that seems a little fast to me. My reason for asking is that after mine calf, I'm going to AI them, so I don't want the bull getting to them before I put them back in the small field close to the barn.

They can come in as early as 14 days and as late as 45 days and still be pretty much average. A lot depends on the genetics, body condition, nutrition and probably the phase of the moon and what you had for dinner last sunday. What I'm getting at is that there are so many variables that it's hard to predict.
