I plan on reaching out to our vet in the morning, but wanted opinions on what we may be dealing with. We have one of our 10 month old angus replacement heifers that started having watery diarrhea a few days ago, however, when checking heifers late this evening, I noticed that has now turned into watery diarrhea with blood. We have never dealt with this before and was wondering from fellow cattlemen/cattlewomen who have any possible suggestions and/or outcomes from dealing with this.

Thanks!

I am thinking your vet will agree that you have a coccidiosis problem.

Agree, that is what it sounds like, sight unseen. But there could be other things. However, corid in the drinking water, or a similar coccidiostat will usually take care of it. If she is in with others, I would treat the whole group. I agree with consulting the vet just in case.

We had one outbreak of coccidiosis with retained heifers years ago and at the time the only water source in that pasture was a pond so used the Corid crumbles in their feed. One 'n done!
