they're maybe laying in the shade a little more but no other change that I can tell.
None of mine have ever stood in a pond no matter what the weather did-----except during flood when it was just one big pond.

My Angus bull gets in the pond or lays on a sand bar in the creek. The Brimmer girls act like nothing has changed.

I'd love to see some pictures of your Brahman cows CB. Feel like posting them?

I've seen your Angus bull a few times and he's a dandy.

Kentucky is a an ideal latitude and climate for cattle. Right now:

We have gotten approximately 6 inches of rain since Friday morning. There was some wind and lightning with the first storms but all is well. Hard to beat Kentucky for cattle weather.

The bull is a New Design blood line.
I will try and get a pic of my sorry crossbred Brimmer's this afternoon.

Sensor is on the porch in the shade.

Better have that A/C checked out CB...humidity is higher in the house than outside.

Mrs has been putting out pots filled with water. The humidity has gotten so low it is giving her sinuses fits.
What blows my mind is the evaporation rate of them in the house.

Oh, I misunderstood, I've seen your Brafords in the past and they are really nice. I thought you had some actual Brahman girls in the mix.

No but I got my eye on some.
Large outfit about 1500 acres just sold had some fine registered gray girls on it. They haven't dispersed the herd yet.
It was an estate deal where the majority of the kids wanted to sell.

Property in the area is selling like hot cakes. Place next to mine is having open house this weekend asking 3.5 million.

How many acres for $3.5 mil?

400

Wow!

I doubt I could get $1.5 for our 650.

Hundred down the road with absolutely nothing on it but a pond went for 500k.
The place next to me is really nice, improved pastures really nice house.
It's got a horse barn that cost 200k
when it was built ten years ago.
Several nice ponds a couple creeks.
My guess is it will go for 2.5 to 2.75 mil.

Here is one of the local realtor

GB, what kind of cows do you raise? I assume they have some brimmer in them?

Tim
Some do, some do not but there are no black ones in the mix.
A group of Beefmasters and separate group of Char/Simm cross.

(they might all be scared of water...it hasn't always been kind to them)

I don't see em around here but I sure do like to look at Beefmaster cattle. Them and Santa Gertrudis. Just love the look of the animals.

I like them too, not a whole lot of them around here either anymore, but do see some on occasion. I reckon that deep red color of a Santa Gertrudis is about my favorite. Don't have any full Gerts anymore but have a few Hereford crossed ones, some of my most dependable cows.

We actually had a cow/calf pair at the county fair I just went to last weekend. I said the same thing, "love that deep red".
I remember the gerts in the 80s at the livestock show in Montgomery...walking by em I came head level with their tail head, I'm 6'3 they were giraffes, big rangy and enough leather too cover 5 couches...

I'll take beefmaster over gerts...if You could put all the beefmaster package in the gert hide...I might be more inclined..

My uncle had a herd of 250 Gerts, I still have anger issues from my youth.
I actually believe the F-1 tiger doesn't get as hot.
