Must still be having trouble with the site. I did several replies this morning and they're all gone, too.

That or the mods have been busy again. Health care seems to be a taboo topic.

Post it again Carlos ,if it is about Canadian health care I want to read it.

Ok here goes again
I think here in canada we watch the debate over health care and wonder why there is a debate -Here in manitoba we have had government run health care for years Its not perfect BUT its a lot better than when I grew up with no insurance or private service --I notice every young mother takes their kids to the doctor whenever they have a snotty nose --I'll tell you when I was a kid you went to the doctor when you were good and sick
I have a fealing (could be wrong) that some americans feel that government programs are close to socialisim and thats next door to communism
We also have gov. run auto insurance when it was first implemented we heard horror stories from the private sector about all the horrable things that were going to happen--Well guess what ---I pay 580.00 a year for my old truck --Full coverage --If I have an accident I just call up the adjuster he comes and looks tells me to go get it fixed I pay 200.00 dedutable --no deductable if its wild life (last year they even refunded some money)The good thing about it is --Its called no fault insurance- And there are no lawyers involved nobody is sueing anybody else and whenever you can operate without lawyers I think thats good.
On the other hand our telephone use to be gov. owned they were forced to derugulate to let the private sector compete--well I use to pay about a 100.00 ?month for telephone --now my bill is about is about 60.00 a month so not all gov. run things are the best
One other thing most canadians I know are terrified of getting sick in the states while travelling.---And we lose a lot of canadian trained trained doctors to the states .they can make more money there. And I sure don't see any of them starving here

I think the screamers are paid .. Sure would like to catch a few and check it out..Paranoia comes from the Alcoa stripmine "debate". Alcoa would set the meetings during working hours, then bus in Alcoa workers on paid "field trips".

BTW,Alcoa is shut down, was the only employer there..Town is dead now..

I don;t want someone trying to manage health care that can't keep from going broke selling booze and sex in a cathouse. Mustang Ranch in NV went broke when the gov tried to run it.

You are dead on Dun.
The problem is we are just feeding the hogs at the trough in Washington.
They are all corrupt no matter the party, there may be one exception and that is Liberman he had the backbone to do what he thought was right and look what it got him.
We are being treated as subjects as I have stated many times before our biggest worry are the three terrorist organizations the White House the Congress and the Senate. No matter what party they are affilated with. I believe we need to take care of our Vets, Elderly, and children with needs the rest are entitled to work or strave to death. We have Americans living in third world conditions in the Applicians(sp) today without electricity or running water while we continue to ship money to countries that hate our guts.
I guess I am a conservative Dem or a Liberal Republican.
Time has come for term limits vote out every incumbent in Washington no matter the party.

............." And there are no lawyers involved nobody is sueing anybody else"............

That, my friend, is the key to the whole problem--in health insurance AND auto insurance.

I have to laugh when the President looks at us with a straight face and says this whole thing will pay for itself from the savings the govt achieves by eliminating waste. In all of US history, I'd like one example of a government which eliminated wasteful spending from any program.
The sales pitch is just too good to be true.

I'm surprised and disappointed at you, Dun. The state of Nevada (not the US government) "tried" to run the Mustang ranch.

And you're ignoring the fact that our government already runs two very successful health insurance programs: TRICARE for active duty and retired military and MEDICARE for people over 65. Both of those consistently have satisfaction ratings from their customers much higher than most private insurance companies in the US.

I think it's because of those two government programs that medical costs aren't higher today than they are. They cover so many people that they're able to "set" the standard fees that many insurance companies use to pay claims. If it hadn't been for the Medicare Advantage programs put in place a few years ago, Medicare would be in much better financial shape. But they've eliminated several of those; hopefully, they'll cut them all out soon.

You are correct. At least that's the way I feel about it.
Years ago when I was a little boy, I knew an old country preacher that said the American people were signing away their rights and didn't even know it. I think he knew what he was talking about.
Don't care if it is state or federal.

From Fox news: Conforte dealt mostly in cash and kept few records. By 1990, the IRS was fed up with his tax shenanigans and seized the ranch, putting the federal government in the unique position of running a brothel. It failed and the ranch was padlocked for the first time.

Medicare is so corrupt and over burdened with government waste I don;t look upon is as a good business model.

Business model? The big insurance companies have a great business model, I guess. If you actually get sick, they drop your coverage. The potential new government health care program won't be a for-profit business. It will be a service to citizens of the country who can't get insurance coverage.

Ha ha Carlos,, now I know why your thread was deleted..

Told you it would turn into a lib ,conservative thing..

Do you two need a mod ??????? :lol2:

I wish we could find a middle ground and get a health care system for all, that works and is cost effective ;yet looks after the patients and the docs, nurses etc..

Maybe on Pegs new planet there will be the most efficient plan.. ;-)

There is a principal, that is a bar against all information,And which cannot help, but keep man in everlasting ignorance .

Carlos, I think that is because we the American People are getting real tired of being screwed and lied to by our own government.
Tom.

Very well said Tom,

If doctors and hospitals did not pad the bills to medicare they would go broke.
People from all over the world travel to our medical centers for treatment. They are able to get get the treatment they need because of our free enterprise system and the high cost. I for one do not like the cost but I certanly appreciate the fact that I can get the very best treatment available in the world.
It is the "Great American Dream" that makes people strive to be the best. Not income limitation.

Not sure I agree with that "best treatment in the world part". Many countries are way ahead of us in research and treatment of a lot of chronic conditions (like diabetes, heart disease, etc.). No real attempt is made to cure or control anything here, other than symptoms, because there's no money to be made treating healthy people.

I'm thinking the foreigners generally come here because they can get whatever treatment we have to offer for free.

As for bill padding, I always wonder what would be wrong with doctors and hospitals submitting a bill for an actual, reasonable amount for a procedure, and the insurance companies or medicare just paying that amount? This would eliminate probably 10 layers of paper shufflers.............and excuse finders.

I agree 100%.
Seems to me the deductible a patient pays would/should cover the treatment received. What the insurance company pays is just make work for paper shufflers in the doctors office, at the hospital and at the insurance company. Nothing proposed will eliminate any of that.
