The Kiwi and I gathered cows off C2 Meadow today, sorted 19 bulls and a few of the neighbours off them. Then we drove them 5 km to Morrison Meadow and counted through the gate. All on quads. Are we still cowboys?

For some reason the destination photo is second.

How long do you expect to have them on grass for now Dave? I know I have followed your progress through winter before but I forget.

Ken
They are on second growth on hay fields now Ken until weaning. Then they go to winter grass until sometime in December.

Are you still cowboys? A good question which I do not have the answer to. A few years back I started to write a cowboy poem about that same question. I never did finish the poem. It started out that I had sold my horse and bought a quad. It ended with me asking if there was somewhere I was supposed to send my chaps and spurs to.
Around here a lot of cattle are gathered and moved by cowboys on horses. The same cowboys gather and move a lot of cattle using quads. It depends on the terrain the cows are on.

A helmet? You are wearing a helmet and you ask if you are still considered cowboys?
The helmet goes with the goggles, the only way to see when it is snowing as hard as it was yesterday. Mostly a cap or winter cap with ear flaps. I am not much on playing Mr. Dressup.

I got that helmet with my snow machine. The goggles are handy checking cows on a snowy night at calving time and for days like yesterday.

OSHA probably has a warm fuzzy feeling....🤔 however, your riding partner doesn't have the proper safety gear....so that's a fine. 😁
