Curious what folks are seeing for hay market in their area vs year ago. I know all parts of country are different so I'm just curious how each part of country is doing for better or worse.

We hadn't hit the gouging part of the hay market by this time last year. It seems pretty inline with production cost so far around here, about 40 a roll for 4x6 net wrapped good hay average.

Cow hay (wheat, oats, triticale) 3x4x8 1100 pounds are averaging $120.00 per bale , small squares $6-$7 for cow hay , alfalfa $10-$12 for 2 strand small squares , 3 strand alfalfa $20, rained on alfalfa 3x4x8 $140, grass hay rolls (imported) 5x5's 120.00 . Corn $200 a ton , silage $50 a ton. Same as last here in NM

Business is booming. Had the best year I can remember and more to bale. Course hay is a commodity and commodity prices will be down as everybody around here has hay coming out their ears and after last couple of years of wet springs ruining a lot of production, lots of little hay buyers just sold off their brood.....we'll see around January how it goes.
