Pretty sure the news is still pushing the nobody can find a job thing and I have it on good authority they don't lie. Right?

Cant tell you the last place I went that didn't have a help wanted sign out, and good luck getting anything done. Everybody is months out with a waiting list.

McDonalds in Baker has a large sign out front. Hiring for all positions. Full and part time. Starting at $14 an hour. A few blocks down the road Behlin has a big sign help wanted, "good wages and full benefits". Both have had those signs up for over a month.
I saw another advertisement for help wanted. They say an extra $200 per pay check for those with a commute over 30 miles.

Anybody want to guess at what inflation will be the next 2 years?

15 to 20%
How does interest rates correlate to inflation. Will interest rates go up?

Don't think so because of the U.S. debt. Interest on U.S. debt in 2019 was 8% of the federal budget. With the increased spending since 2019 and if interest rates did go up, well don't see how this is going to work out.

Reminds me of the late 70's under Jimmy.
Home loans at 16%.
Can't print yourself out of trouble.

Word is Pension funds will be required to "invest" in govenment bonds beginning in 2022.
Perhaps someone on here has more on the subject?

I believe interest rates will rise but only slightly. Perhaps mid to late 2022 but more likely mid to late 2023.

The fed's main objective until then, is to increase employment not inflation control.

FOMC won't consider rate increases until
  • The recovery in the labor market is effectively complete
  • Core inflation rate has reached 2% in non-transitionary terms. (doesn't include volatile food and oil price changes)
  • Inflation is on track to run above 2% for a sustainable time.
The current short term inflation rate is 2.6% (month over month increase included) which is short of the long term 3.4% average since the end of WW2, but above the last 10 year average of 2.5%

Federal Reserve projects inflation above 2% for rest of the year in 2.2 - 2.7% range
and expects it to drop to back to 2.0% by mid 2022 as the economy recovers.

But they might be blowing smoke in an effort to keep the markets calm.

None of us know cow shyt from wild honey on this.
It's all speculation, someone in the banking industry probably has a better pulse on this. The rest of us are reading regurgitated material.
The only fact I know is it's never good when corn goes up.
