Have you had this happen?

We have a young cow that lost her calf after a freak accident. We rebred her and now she is bulking up like a bull. What would cause this?

Most likely just the extra weight from not having to feed a calf but being on the same feed as the rest. If you mean muscling on the shoulders etc., I can't imagine anything that could cause it that wouldn't interfere with breeding.

Is she actually bred, or just been serviced? cystic cows will sometimes take on bullish characteristics.
