Barn lime mixed into the water for prevention of bloat, as it changes the ph in the gut?????

Might work to prevent acidosis, but this usuaaly doesn't cause bloat in and of itself. Won't do thing for frothy bloat. Free gas bloat is usually a blockage or motility problem. If you animals that are so acidotic that their rumen motility is so poor that they bloat you have ration and other health issues. More reliable to supply free choice bicarb or add to the ration if that's the case. Plus most barn lime is coarse enough it'll sit on the bottom of the tank.
