I calved a heifer last night, she bagged up really well but when the calf started to try to suck it seemed like nothing was coming so i checked it out and tried milking her what i got resembled snot not milk or colostrum. It did not smell or seem mastitic. So i gave the little girl some clostrum i had collected earlier from another cow. After the heifer cleaned i got the calf up and milked a little again it was normal colostrum. So i got the calf up and is doing fine now. I have neverseen milk like that. The heifer has had all her vaccination, receiving free choice hay and is getting grain and protien and mineral supps and is in good shape. I thought it might have been udder edema but the heifers udder was soft. I am happy it self corrected has anyone else seen this?
