I bought some cows out of eastern Oklahoma going against the saying you can't move a cow west of from I-35.
They are very slow moving unathletic girls.
They came in thin and have done well here, but you can tell they couldn't hustle out a living in tough conditions.
No way they could cover enough ground to feed themselves.

That leads me to wornder what good cows from west Texas or New Mexico would do here.
Given they stay in condition and raise a calf each year there.
What would their potential be here ?

Cross 7 where are you located? I've seen good cows sucessfully transition both ways from OKC east and the OK Panhandle.

98 deg, humid, Extreme UV warning.... and they are doing work.

The one on the far left looks like a tank.

There are several that are built pretty thick... not like the pics most people post on here. Some we just bought too and were a little thin. They are filling out good now.

Contact Dr Strick and get some information on his Bonsmara herd, this herd was founded with embryos from his original herd in the harsh northern Kalahari bushevld, when we were neighbours, these pictures show how well they adapt to the opposite climatic conditions; http://sangacattle.webs.com/apps/photos ... id=8986914
