Hard starting

Help Support CattleToday:

The starter housing where it bolts to the bell housing is the negative electrical connection for the starter. If there is rust or some other barrier there the starter can not get full power. A frame of a vehicle is the negative power source (unless the vehicle has a positive ground!) for the whole system.

Think of the problems that would be solved if that were NOT the case. Starting with trailer wiring. Works great for a little while, then a lifetime of chasing hard to find problems. Why did they not just run two wires (positive and negative) for all circuits instead of using an old rusty frame for the negative return? And what were they thinking when started making some vehicles with positive ground?
