Cleaned up the herd and sold some fall calves today.

Couple big cows that weaned off the 'dink' calves. Averaged 1745 lbs and brought $2242 each.

I mentioned in another past thread of a couple dinks I had that would set the tone as to what people would pay for junk. One on the left was 410 lbs and got $1025 and the other was 385 lbs and was $904

A favorite of mine, have 3 daughters in the herd that are something pretty special. Feet and teats are not so great this time around, and calf is much smaller, so time to cash in. 1642 lbs @ $2118. Her calf in the picture was 427 lbs @ $1517.

An old standby of mine. Love this cow more every year. Raised twin steers this year. They averaged 592 lbs and got $1818 each.

This is a bunch of 4 (which includes the twin set) that were 592 @ $1818. The 2nd from right is a first time heifer's calf.

1st timer calves. These 2 were a bunch of 3 that average 515 lbs and got $1686 each.

Wow great prices Aaron!
You got a whole lot more for your twins than I did for my Angus twins.
Good looking cattle. Your culls may very well be someone else's treasures.

When were the calves born? What do the cows get thru the winter for feed?

Prices are great right now, been sending off a few poorer ones myself and then replacing with hopefully better ones.

Also a sim slaughter bull went thru the sale last week, 2600 @ 1.52! unreal.

End of August and through September. Cows get trefoil/grass hay and in the case of the two sets of twins, a little grain in the coldest months. The heifers and their calves are just hay.
