Happy Days are Here Again

Help Support CattleToday:

Herd numbers have already gone down in areas that are hard hit by the drought. The law of supply and demand says that if the demand stays strong then prices that producers receive will go up but the big questions affecting supply and demand are;
Will consumers reduce their demand for beef because of the expense and switch to fish, poultry and pork?
Will the big 4 packers increase the supply of foreign beef that they import to the US at a cost that is below our cost of production?

Let me look into my crystal ball for the answers...:unsure:
I think you hit the nail on the head. Pretty much a losing battle with any way you go with the producer having any leverage. The cheap foreign beef and their lower input cost pretty much makes it a end losing game for us. On the property valve it is selling high for around here as the Amish that surround me are paying IMO above worth, but I believe that is about to soften.
